Meet Rich Karger
________________________________________________________________________

Rich Karger was born and raised around Boston, and sits surrounded in his office by Bosox, Bruins, Pats and Celtics memorabilia. The 1992 Sales Rookie of the year plaque from a major insurer waxes prominent behind his desk.

Not bad for a San Diego State marine biology major who thought he would be a doctor. Or for this ex-west coast rock ‘n roll DJ who wowed ‘em as “Dice Martin” in Vegas. His next career choice was into radio sales. He quickly learned the next logical step was to get out of radio sales. A natural sales person, Rich joined the insurance industry in 1992 and earned his first rookie of the year.

His own independent agency followed in 1995 in Albany, New York, but he tired of snow in 2003 and joined Allstate here in Cape Coral.

As of the first of 2006, due to the success of his business and the changes that have taken place in the Insurance industry since Hurricane Charley, Rich has opened  Rich Karger Florida Insurance / Mortgage Brokerage.  He is now positioned with a myriad of carriers to expand to meet the ever increasing needs of his clients. This removes any constraints to any one company and allows him to shop for the very best rates, coverages and services.

So what’s his secret? He modestly admits “Anybody can take your money and write a policy, but almost nobody sells it right.  Everyone has to have insurance, but there are a lot of different policies out there, and the cheapest is not always the best. Too many insurance people assume everyone wants price, and miss the big picture of providing the right policy for the customer's best interest.”

“We listen and advise, and sometimes, although we could sell a policy that’s not right for the customer, we don’t. If they’re going to have trouble, let them have it with somebody else.”

Rich, who is not married but would like to be, never quite sits still. He loves to golf, play tennis, jet ski, and practices Karate –all active sports. That he is a gourmet chef and vegetable gardener comes as a surprise. "I cook gourmet for one every night.  Tonight’s menu: scampi with garden-fresh veggies."

So what impression does he want to leave? That they are pleasant, responsive, and helpful.  That they have a good attitude and have taken the time to solve their problems. “I return every call every day before I leave. You build an agency on service and service generates referrals, but a lot of agents just tick people off.” Not a problem with Rich Karger. His agency is already among the top 20% in the nation.
